Role Overview:
Research Volunteers are the information detectives of I Am Open, responsible for finding and verifying up-to-date details on essential resources during disasters. This role involves gathering accurate information on services like shelters, food distribution sites, medical support, and other critical needs. Research Volunteers ensure our platform provides the latest, most reliable data, so communities can quickly access help in times of need.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Source Information: Conduct online research using various sources, including official government websites, social media, local news, and direct outreach to service providers.
  • Verify and Confirm: Double-check the accuracy of gathered information by cross-referencing multiple sources and confirming details directly when possible.
  • Update Resource Listings: Regularly update the I Am Open platform with current information on available resources, including addresses, hours, and availability of services.
  • Respond to Changing Conditions: Stay alert to new developments and evolving situations, ensuring that all information remains relevant and timely.
  • Support Information Flow: Work with the Admin and Phone Support teams to ensure they have the most up-to-date information to share with the community.
